Orange County sheriff’s deputies announced Friday that they would take some form of job action, possibly a strike, if contract talks don’t improve within the next week.
By a 430-8 vote, the deputies authorized a job action. Robert J. Macleod, general manager of the Assn. of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs, said he hopes the deputies’ vote will alert county officials and result in renewed contract negotiations.
John Sibley, the county’s director of employee relations, said the negotiators may be able to resume talks this week, possibly through a mediator.
