Jim Brown, Larry Holmes and Now, Alas, Wilt, Too
Poor Wilt. He must fear that people are forgetting him. I have always considered him, by far, the greatest basketball player of all time. His personal and team stats back me up on that. So why does he have to pull a Jim Brown (remember Brown’s comments on Walter Payton)?
Doesn’t Wilt realize that by denigrating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar--many people’s choice for greatest center--he’s degrading himself while displaying a desperate attempt for headlines.
Wilt should rerun some tapes of Larry Holmes’ recent interviews. That’s where he is headed.
