The 1979 film “Jesus†will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Ave. in Laguna Beach. Admission is free and an offering will be taken.

Biblical locations were used in making the film, which was adapted from the Gospel of St. Luke. The movie has been translated into 97 languages and has been seen by more than 260 million people in 112 countries, according to Barry Fiess, spokesman for the Jesus Project. The organization hopes to eventually dub the movie in 271 major languages, which also requires that the film be culturalized as best as possible, Fiess said.

“We’ve run into problems explaining the film,†Fiess said. “In Ethiopia, for instance, when they see people fishing in the movie and eating their catch, well, they’ve never seen a fish before. We have to stop the film and explain what a fish is.â€
