Rancho P.V. : Transit Contract Renewal
The City Council has agreed to renew a contract with Transit Contractors of Long Beach to operate PV Transit for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
PV Transit is a dial-a-ride service operating in Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates and in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Rancho Palos Verdes is the lead agency for PV Transit, but all contracts must be reviewed by the other cities and the county.
The proposed contract will be submitted to the governing boards of the other cities and the county at their next meetings.
Presenting a per-hour cost of $24.43 and a total contract cost of $561,885, Transit Contractors was not the low bidder on the proposal. The lowest bid was submitted Community Transit Services of Santa Ana at $22.62 per hour and a total cost of $520,201. But the council agreed that Transit Contractors had provided a high level of service and had a staff of experienced drivers and other personnel.
PV Transit is funded by a special county sales tax that is disbursed to cities on a population basis. Rancho Palos Verdes pays 66.25% of PV Transit costs.
