A toxic cloud that made at least 34 people ill in Marin County may have been tear gas from a College of Marin law enforcement class, Corte Madera Fire Chief Larry Fresnays concluded. He said two large tear gas canisters were activated at about the time nearby residents began complaining of headaches, nausea, dizziness and irritation of eyes and noses. The college was told to suspend tear gas instruction at least until an investigation is completed.
