Micro General Loses $28,475 in lst Quarter
Micro General Corp. said it lost $28,475 for the first quarter, down from net earnings of $65,941 a year earlier. Revenue for the period was $1.1 million, up slightly from $1 million.
The Irvine-based manufacturer of precision postal scales and parcel shipping systems said the higher revenue came largely from increased sales of the company’s products. The loss was attributed to the lack of a postal rate change, which generated considerable sales and earnings for Micro General in the first quarter of 1985. The company profits from a rate change because each of its postal meter customers must purchase a device that imprints the new rate on packages and pieces of mail.
