U.S. Steel delayed a planned 3% price increase.
Chairman David M. Roderick said the firm postponed the increase because of tough competition. The company had planned to impose an increase of between 2.9% and 3.7% on all of its sheet steel effective Monday. U.S. Steel officials previously said they expected the market to accept the price hike, as it had an increase that took effect Jan. 1.
