A Santa Ana man who had worked as a doctor at an Orange County walk-in medical clinic since 1984 was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a physician. Investigators from the state Board of Medical Quality Assurance said Enrique Herera had been using the identity and credentials of retired Oxnard physician Dr. Alvin J. Steward to perform examinations, suturing, minor surgery and to prescribe medication and treatment at Emergi-Care Family Center, which has offices in Fountain Valley and Westminster. There were no complaints from patients, a spokesman from the board said, but the impersonation was discovered when Herrera tried to renew Dr. Stewart’s license.
