National Technical Lists Gain of $6,000 in Quarter
Calabasas-based National Technical Systems reported a profit for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 31. of $6,000 on sales of nearly $6.3 million. During the same period a year earlier, the company took a loss of $777,000 on sales of $5.7 million.
For the year, NTS earned $244,000 on sales of nearly $24.5 million. In the previous year, the company reported a loss of almost $1.5 million on sales of $21.7 million.
The return to profit resulted from the spinoff early last year of a money-losing operation, United Education and Software, said Lloyd Blonder, chief financial officer. NTS performs testing services, primarily for the aerospace and defense industries.
