Chiang Gets Pacemaker

TAIPEI, Taiwan — President Chiang Ching-kuo underwent heart surgery last week to install an artificial pacemaker, a government spokesman said Thursday. Chiang, 76, son of Chinese Nationalist wartime leader Chiang Kai-shek, suffers from diabetes and in the last four years has had surgery on both eyes.
