Suns’ Bernard Thompson Played Final Weeks of Season With Two Stress Fractures in Leg
Associated Press
PHOENIX — Doctors have discovered that Phoenix Suns’ Bernard Thompson played the last several weeks of the NBA season with two stress fractures in his left leg, a team spokesman said Wednesday.
Thompson was examined Tuesday by Dr. Paul Steinguard, the team physician, who termed X-rays of the leg “suspicious,” said Tom Ambrose, a spokesman for the Suns.
On Wednesday, Ambrose said, a bone scan confirmed that Thompson had suffered two stress fractures of his left tibia.
Thompson’s leg was placed in a cast and will be immobilized for six to eight weeks, Ambrose said.
