Two formerly high-ranking U.S. Postal Service computer specialists were sentenced to prison for their roles in a bribery, bid-rigging and mail-fraud scheme involving $2-billion worth of government procurement contracts. Ronald J. Perholtz, 38, of Silver Spring, Md., was sentenced to 10 years on a racketeering charge and ordered to forfeit more than $850,000 gained through the contract scheme. U.S. District Judge Gerhard A. Gesell also sentenced Franklin W. Jackson, 38, of Fairfax, Va., to seven years on the racketeering charge.
