Local News in Brief : Castaic Lake Lifeguards Recover Bather’s Body
Los Angeles County lifeguards Monday evening pulled the body of a 41-year-old Hollywood man from Castaic Lake, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
“At this point, it appears to be a drowning,” Deputy Bob Stoneman said.
The man, Luis Gonzalez, was swimming with friends in the late afternoon when he disappeared below the surface of the lake, he said.
Stoneman said a sheriff’s diving team was summoned but that lifeguards found the body before the team arrived at the lake, which is about 11 miles northwest of Newhall.
