Parents: Son of Jim Tunney, the late horse racing steward and football official who worked Santa Anita and Hollywood Park for 20 years.
Married: to the former Natalie Stewart, who owns The Travel Brokers, a Carmel travel agency.
Family: two sisters and a brother. Two daughters and two sons by a previous marriage.
Home: Lives at Pebble Beach, overlooking the golf course and the ocean.
Hobby: Tennis. (“I’m not old enough to play golf.â€)
Athlete of the Year: In 1951 at Occidental, he was an all-conference basketball player.
Education: Master’s and doctoral degrees from USC.
Jobs: He was a high school principal at Fairfax, Franklin and Hollywood.
Official: He began as a college official in 1951 and joined the NFL in 1960.
Referee: Super Bowls VI, XI and XII.
Profession: He’s a professional speaker and president-elect of the National Speakers Assn. He’s also the president of Jim Tunney Associates in Lakewood. (“When I drive to the office, it’s a six-hour commute.â€)
