FAA Control of Flights Opposed

TORRANCE — A resolution opposing a Federal Aviation Administration proposal to shift control of airport access from the local to federal level was adopted by the City Council.
Torrance Municipal Airport Manager John Cagaanan said the change--which would allow the FAA rather than cities to decide how many takeoffs and landings could take place at airports--primarily would affect commercial airports. But, he said, it could affect general aviation airports like the one in Torrance in the future.
