Brett Hull, son of former NHL star Bobby Hull, scored a hat trick to lead Team USA to a 9-2 victory over West Germany in the World Hockey Championships at Moscow. The victory gave the Americans a 2-1 record.
In other games, Finland beat Canada, 3-2; Sweden registered a 3-2 victory over defending champion Czechoslovakia, and the Soviet Union defeated Poland, 7-2.
