AND HERE’S THE NEWS: The Lakers are getting ready for the playoffs, and so is the team’s sixth man in the broadcast booth, Chick Hearn, who’s lent his revved-up vocal chords to a new rap record called “Rap-Around” written by Hearn and producers Dave Blume and Dave Gillerman. Just released on Outpost Records, the novelty tune features a host of Hearn’s trademark hoop patois (“It’ll count if it goes!,” “No harm, no foul!”), all electronically enhanced and edited to a sinewy dance beat. The single’s B side is aptly titled “The Popcorn Machine.” . . . Pop Eye has been deluged with calls asking for details about Bruce Springsteen’s $3.2-million new home in Pacific Palisades, calls apparently prompted by a recent National Enquirer story (and photo spread) about the home. However, the whole affair came as a surprise to the Boss’ management firm, which termed the reports “totally false.” According to a spokeswoman: “Bruce never went to look at a house, he’s never had a realtor or anything.” Springsteen has owned a home here for several years, but one which is described as a “very modest” residence. . . . We haven’t seen any real “explicit lyrics” warning stickers yet, but “Killer Lords,” the new Lords of the New Church album, has a tongue-in-cheek offering. It reads: “This record contains material that will cause offence to the Moral Majority. Play Loud!” . . . And where is “The Newlywed Game” when you really need it? Jerry Lee Lewis has been sued for divorce by his sixth wife, Kerry McCarver Lewis, who married the Killer in 1984. The divorce petition claims Lewis “struck her in the face with his fist, bloodying her nose,” and also charges him with adultery.
