Initial funding for development of a Korean Heritage Library at USC has been received from the Korean Traders Scholarship Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education, university librarian Charles R. Ritcheson announced. He said $50,000 a year also is being committed from the university library budget to purchase Korean books and other materials. The collection already includes about 3,500 volumes and is expected to grow to 40,000 during the next five years. Acquisitions will focus on 19th- and 20th-Century Korea, the history of the Korean independence movement, and Korean communities throughout the world.
