College Softball : Nakamaru Leads Cypress to Win

Karen Nakamaru drove in Tracy Morris with a two-out single in the second inning Wednesday to help lift Cypress College past Orange Coast, 1-0, in a South Coast Conference softball game at Cypress.
Shannon Foster (10-5) pitched a three-hitter for the Chargers (3-4, 22-10). She struck out three and walked one. Nakamaru’s twin sister, Kerri, had two of Cypress’ six hits. Orange Coast fell to 1-6 in SCC play.
In other South Coast Conference action:
Rancho Santiago 1, Cerritos 0--Kim Martin pitched a shutout at Santa Ana to maintain her 0.00 earned run average in conference play. Martin is 5-0 in the SCC and 15-1 overall. Christi Kalehuawehe scored the winning run on a single by Tina Engel. Sandy Martinez led the Dons (7-0, 27-4) with two hits in three at-bats.
Golden West 6, Saddleback 0--Lisa Brady (10-2) pitched a four-hitter for the host Rustlers (6-1, 18-3). Golden West was paced by Gail Russell’s two-run triple and Robin Bokelman’s two-run single. The Gauchos fell to 4-3 and 12-6.
