A 6-year-old boy who was reported missing after he failed to return from school Tuesday was found slain near his home Tuesday night, authorities said.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies identified the boy as Miguel Antero, who lived in the 3400 block of Triunfo Canyon Road in Agoura. Deputies found his body about 10:25 p.m. after a five-hour search.

He had last been seen after being dropped off by a bus near his home about 3 p.m., and the deputies began searching after the boy’s mother contacted them two hours later, a sheriff’s spokesman said. A helicopter and dogs were used in the search. No other details were available.
