Three-Run Home Run Beats Gale in Japan

TOKYO — Tomio Tashiro hit a three-run home run Sunday off former major league pitcher Rich Gale to lead the Yokohama Taiyo Whales to a 5-3 win over the Hanshin Tigers, the 1985 Japan Series champions.
Gale, who had 13 victories against eight defeats last season, is 0-1.
In another game, former major leaguer Dick Davis drove in two runs with a single in the first inning as the Kintetsu Buffaloes beat the Nippon Ham Fighters, 3-2.
