Police officers from six county cities will take off their badges and inflict a little police brutality on each other Friday.
The officers-turned-football-players are out to win the championship crown in Cop Bowl VIII, where Fullerton, Buena Park and Garden Grove police departments will play against Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa and Irvine police departments.
The officers will don helmets and shoulder pads in the name of charity, with the proceeds going to high school athletic programs. Tickets are $15 for a family, $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Orange Coast College Stadium in Costa Mesa. Last year, the Fullerton/Buena Park/Garden Grove team won the match, with Fullerton Detective Bob Terrio named the game’s most valuable player.
