La Jolla
A 62-year-old El Cajon man died Thursday after falling from a 25-foot cliff in La Jolla, officials said.
Jose Raffles was walking down an incline 30 feet west of the 6200 block of Camino de la Costa with two friends about 11 a.m., when he lost his footing on the incline and rolled off the cliff to the rocks below, a spokesman for the city lifeguard service said.
Raffles was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he died of massive internal injuries, the county coroner’s office said.
