Orange County Prep Baseball : Paulsen Leads La Quinta to Two Wins
Troy Paulsen had five hits, three RBIs and scored three runs in two games Monday to lead La Quinta High School to a doubleheader sweep of Long Beach Wilson, 3-1 and 15-5, in nonconference baseball action on Blair Field at Long Beach.
For the day, Mark Dion added four hits and three RBIs, and Timmy Park had four hits for the Aztecs (8-6). James Marquez pitched six scoreless innings to win the opener, and Randy McGlenn went three innings for the win in the nightcap.
In other nonleague action:
Sunny Hills 7, California 3 (eight innings)--Tim Imperiali scored the go-ahead run on an error in the top of the eighth inning and David Wackerman added a three-run homer to lead the Lancers at Whittier.
Western 10, Cypress 3--The Pioneers (3-0, 11-3) scored five runs in the fourth inning, four on two-run singles by Frank Miller and Eric Kawamoto, on their way to the win at Western High.
Western third baseman David Tellers went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and Mark Tranberg went 2 for 3 with a double, single and an RBI.
