Bradley and Rose Bird

Bradley is absolutely right in his position that he should not become involved in the controversy over Chief Justice Bird. Aside from the importance of the constitutional separation of powers, which he emphasized when he made his announcement, he is a candidate for the office of governor of California and should be concerned only with issues pertaining to that office.
Gov. Deukmejian is totally wrong in attempting to make Bird an issue in the campaign. Although he is running for reelection to the office of governor, he is not campaigning for that office. He is campaigning, as he did in 1982, against Rose Bird.
He should get his priorities straight.
