A victim of a plane crash near Guadalajara arrived at Mercy Hospital Thursday evening, more than 31 hours after the accident at a small Mexican airstrip.
Dale Bryson, 23, was listed in serious but stable condition with spinal injuries and a fracturd leg, a hospital spokesman said. Mercy was also expecting another victim of the crash in the town of Zacatecas, 125 miles north of Guadalajara.
Two other victims were taken to a Houston hospital and the fifth was en route to Loma Linda, Calif., said Richard Williams, president of Air-Evac International Inc., whose planes brought the victims back to the United States.
Williams said that the group’s Piper Cherokee plane crashed on the runway when its engine quit about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. They were being treated at a clinic in Zacatecas until they were brought home aboard four Air-Evac planes.
Williams said the five were members of a Seventh-Day Adventist organization working on an irrigation project in Zacatecas.
