When Scott Radinsky struck out 18 batters last week against Riverside Poly, his accomplishment did not go unnoticed.

A dozen major league scouts, all armed with note pads and speed guns, were waiting for the 6-2, 195-pound Simi Valley senior when he returned to the mound on Friday against Camarillo.

They weren’t disappointed.

Radinsky survived two bases-loaded situations in the early innings and settled down to throw his third one-hitter of the season as Simi Valley defeated Camarillo, 3-1, in a Marmonte League game.

“Now that I have the 18 strikeouts in the books, I’m not looking for any Ks,†Radinsky said. “I try and pitch a normal game. I can’t let the scouts bother me.â€

He may not have been trying for strikeouts, but Radinsky (3-1) had 13 anyway to give him 54 in 24 innings. He walked five.

Jason McCarthy managed a single to right in the second inning for Camarillo’s only hit.

Camarillo (1-2 in league, 5-4 overall) picked up an unearned run in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Kevin Ochs hit a chopper to Simi Valley third baseman Mike Hankins, who passed up a play at the plate and threw to first base.

Simi Valley’s Scott Sharts tied the game in the fourth inning with a home run off Travis Willis (2-1).

The Pioneers (2-0 in league, 6-2 overall) added two runs in the fifth. Corey Aurand singled, stole second and scored on a triple by Von Herron. One out later, Shaun Murphy singled in Herron.
