An unidentified 15-year-old San Diego youth died and a man was injured in a double shooting in the 1300 block of Garnet Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday.
According to a San Diego Police spokeswoman, the boy was despondent, threatening to kill himself with a gun he had in his possession, when a friend tried to wrestle the gun from his hand. In the ensuing scuffle, the youth’s friend was accidently shot in the abdomen, after which the youth with the gun ran a short distance and then shot himself in the head.
Both victims were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where the youth later died. His friend was listed in stable condition.
