USD Earns Split With Dominguez Hills

SAN DIEGO — The University of San Diego baseball team rebounded from an 11-2 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader Saturday to edge the Toros, 3-2, in the 12-inning second game.
In the first game, a two-run single by Ray Grant of Dominguez Hills sparked a seven-run rally in the seventh inning. Grant was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Pitcher Jim Pena (2-1) struck out nine.
In the second game, a solo homer by Dominguez Hills shortstop Craig Grebeck in the ninth tied the game, 2-2. USD’s David Jacas won the game for the Toreros when his 12th-inning RBI single scored John Bonilla from second.
