FORT WORTH — A large explosion near a natural gas line rocked an empty downtown building today, injuring at least 17 people and shattering windows at a nearby hotel, officials said.
The force of the blast at the site of a former car dealership was felt 12 blocks away, an investigator said, and people at the Fort Worth Hilton hotel were injured by flying glass. Police said street repair work could have been under way in the immediate area of the explosion.
