HRT Industries confirmed the closing of Zodys.
In a terse statement, the Los Angeles-based parent of the 32-store discount chain said that, “due to adverse operating conditions and Zodys’ failure to meet financial projections,†the board has decided to close “substantially all†of the stores. The statement added that the stores have all been closed for inventory and will begin close-out sales Thursday. Although unions representing about 2,400 Zodys workers were notified of the closings more than two weeks ago, the company had refused to issue a confirmation.
