KCOP TO BROADCAST ‘ALL THAT JAZZ’ UNCUT
Just two weeks after KTLA Channel 5 showed the film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest†unedited, KCOP Channel 13 plans to do the same with “All That Jazz.â€
The 1979 semi-autobiographical film by Bob Fosse, about an obsessively driven director (played by Roy Scheider) who is putting together a Broadway musical while editing a movie, will be shown in its original theatrical release next week on Tuesday and again the following Saturday (March 8), both at 8 p.m.
Viewers will be warned beforehand to use discretion in considering whether they or their children should watch the film, a station spokeswoman said.
KCOP noted that it is not imitating KTLA’s recent telecast of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest†because it was Channel 13 that broached traditionally movie-editing standards in 1980 by broadcasting uncut “The Deer Hunter.â€
