MUSIC, ALL-STAR TRIBUTES SET FOR KOCE FUND DRIVE
A full lineup of music specials and tributes will be aired by KOCE-TV during the public station’s 12-night Spring Membership Appeal, starting Saturday.
The headliner specials will star Luciano Pavarotti, Liberace, Al Jarreau, Lena Horne and Peter, Paul and Mary. Among the all-star tributes will be those honoring Irving Berlin, Benny Goodman, Marty Robbins and Mother Maybelle Carter. KOCE will also air film salutes to Spencer Tracy and to W. C. Fields; a concert version of “Follies†with Carol Burnett, Lee Remick and Barbara Cook, and the 1986 “Gala of Stars†hosted by Beverly Sills.
The Spring Membership Appeal will be aired on Channel 50 between Saturday and March 16. (There will be no pledge night events March 3, 4, 10 and 11.)
Campaign hosts will include such pledge night veterans as Stephanie Edwards, Meredith McRae, Greg Mullavey, Ronni Richards and Marshall Klein.
Underwriters for the KOCE drive include California First Bank, Chevron, GTE Sprint, Mercury Savings & Loan Assn., Rockwell International and Security Pacific Foundation.
KOCE, headquartered on the Golden West College campus in Huntington Beach, is operated by the Coast Community College District.
