Nine people have qualified for the ballot to replace former Assemblyman Richard Alatorre in the Eastside’s 55th Assembly District.
The district, which covers Highland Park and parts of El Sereno and Pasadena, was represented by Alatorre for 13 years until he was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in December. Those seeking to replace him are Lowell Akui, Mike Hernandez, Gonzalo Molina, Richard Polanco, Thomas Williams, Loren Lutz, Sarah Foster, Michael Zinzun and Clarence Clayton Moore.
The primary election will be held April 8. If no one receives 50% plus one vote, a runoff will be held June 3.
