A South-Central Los Angeles man has been sentenced to die in the gas chamber for the first-degree murders of two rival gang members in a December, 1982, shooting incident in the parking lot of a South San Pedro Street video arcade. Anderson Hawthorne Jr., 25, was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald S. W. Lew for the deaths of Jimmy Mamon, 19, and Kirk Thomas, 19.
