Century League : Hot Second Quarter Gives Foothill Win Over Canyon
Foothill High School outscored Canyon, 21-8, in the second quarter Friday night and went on to defeat the Comanches, 61-47, in a Century League game at Foothill.
The second-place Knights improved their league record to 10-2 and overall record to 18-5. Canyon is 2-10 and 6-16.
Forward Alan Schlines led Foothill with 21 points and guard Derek Johnson added 17. Schlines also had eight rebounds.
Guard John Williams led Canyon with 17 points.
El Modena 50, Santa Ana Valley 46--The Vanguards, on the strength of Darren DeFeo’s 14 points and Ryan Rycraw’s 11 points, remained in third place with a win at the Falcons’ gym. Santa Ana Valley was led by Alonzo Jamison’s 17 points.
Santa Ana 77, Villa Park 48--Eric Turner scored 20 and grabbed 10 rebounds and Bobby Joyce added 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the first-place Saints to an easy win over the Spartans at Santa Ana High. Scooti Lynwood had 10 assists. Chris Storck and Scott Creagan each scored 10 points for last-place Villa Park.
Tustin 54, Orange 50 (OT)--The Tillers made six of seven throw attempts in overtime to win at home. Eric Hermann, who had made only 6 of 19 free throws on the season, made three in overtime.
