San Diego State Plays Host to Utah
SAN DIEGO — San Diego State will attempt to rebound from its first Western Athletic Conference home loss when it plays host to Utah at 7:30 tonight in the Sports Arena.
The Aztecs had won their first five WAC home games before losing Thursday night to Brigham Young, 81-71. SDSU is fifth in the nine-team WAC with a 6-5 conference record, 7-14 overall.
Anthony Watson has averaged 30 points in his last five games, including a game-high 32 points against BYU. However, the Cougars limited Watson to seven second-half points when they switched to a box-and-one defense, having one player cover Watson and the other four play a zone.
Utah defeated the Aztecs last month in Salt Lake City, 93-89, in overtime. SDSU had led by six points with 6 1/2 minutes remaining in regulation.
The Utes are 5-4 in the WAC and 13-8 overall.
