The Nation : Twisters Hurt 30 in Texas
Tornadoes spawned by fast-moving thunderstorms touched down in eastern Texas, tearing up houses, cutting power and killing one person, authorities said in Tomball. More than 30 people were injured, some seriously. Twisters hit two apartment houses, several homes and a doctor’s office in Tomball late in the afternoon, said Police Chief Derwood Kennedy. “We’ve had four or five touch down,” Kennedy said, and 90% of the houses in town were damaged. “Power lines are down by the hundreds, and the hail was so severe, it’s ankle deep in some places.”
