Weyerhaeuser Co., citing the strong dollar and soft prices for many forest products, said its fourth-quarter net income fell 12% from earnings before a write-down a year ago. Weyerhaeuser, based in Tacoma, Wash., said net income for the three months ended Dec. 29 came to $63.6 million, compared to a profit of $27.4 million a year earlier. However, earnings for last year’s period came to $71.4 million before an after-tax write-down of $44 million for shutdown plants and defaulted timber contracts. Fourth-quarter revenue fell 12% from a year earlier. For all of 1985, Weyerhaeuser’s net income fell 12% to $200.1 million on a 6% decline in revenue.
