JC BASKETBALL : Shane Misses 20-Footer With 10 Seconds Left as Valley Loses in Overtime

Southwest College defeated Valley, 70-63, in overtime Thursday at L. A. Harbor College.
Valley had a chance to win with 10 seconds left in regulation, but Kenny Shane missed a 20-footer. Southwest proceeded to outscore Valley, 12-5, in the overtime.
Southwest (18-3, 2-0 in the Mountain Valley Conference) had a balanced scoring attack. Brian Brundage had 17 points. Bruce Chew and Charles Webb each had 16. Chew scored six in overtime.
Mario Lopez, who is averaging 12.5 points per game, led Valley (0-2, 9-12) with 24.
Valley (women) 77, College of the Canyons 67--Jill Daniels had 24 points and 18 rebounds in leading Valley over Canyons in a Mountain Valley Conference game at Valley.
Paula Lucas scored 25 for College of the Canyons. Valley is 2-0 in conference. Canyon is 0-3.
Pasadena City College 71, Pierce 68--The Lancers built a six-point halftime lead and then hung on to defeat Pierce in a Metro Conference game at Pasadena.
The Lancers (15-7, 4-2) were led by center John Clark, who scored 18 and grabbed 15 rebounds. Jock White added 13 points and Danny Scott 12 for Pasadena.
Pierce (3-18, 0-6) was led by freshmen guards Tony Thomas and Kent Young. Thomas scored 18 points and Young added 11.
