Fullerton : Help Asked in Finding Person Who Set Fire
Fullerton firefighters are asking for help in finding the person responsible for a Jan. 12 fire in the 1900 block of Avenida del Ossa that caused $70,000 damages.
The initial investigation showed that the blaze was triggered by a parachute flare--similar to those used as distress signals--that landed on the wood-shingle roof of the home of Kenneth E. Gallette, authorities said.
A portion of a flare was found in the charred remains, Fire Inspector Tom Thompson said.
The fire occurred about 2 a.m., but no injuries were reported. Thompson said the police had received reports that other flares had been sighted in the same area shortly before the blaze began.
Anyone with information about the fire can call the Fullerton Fire Prevention Bureau at (714) 738-6500 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, call the battalion chief’s office at (714) 738-6512.
