Tiger International Posts $43-Million Loss for Year
Tiger International posted losses for the fourth quarter of 1985 and the full year.
For the three months ended Dec. 31, the worldwide air transport and trucking concern had a loss from continuing operations of $4.9 million on revenue of $313.9 million, compared to a year earlier when it earned $28.4 million on revenue of $326.6 million.
For the full year, the company showed a deficit of $43.1 million on revenue of $1.15 billion, in contrast to 1984, when it had a profit of $44.2 million on revenue of $1.21 billion.
The company’s net loss for the most recent quarter, including a $10.5-million write-off from discontinued operations, was $15.4 million. A year earlier, its net deficit was $95.3 million, but that included a loss from discontinued operations of $120.6 million.
For all of 1985, Tiger had a net loss of $53.6 million, including the $10.5-million write-off. In 1984, its net loss was $88.9 million, with write-offs from discontinued operations totaling $133.1 million.
