College of Canyons Faces Valley Tonight
College of the Canyons, the defending Mountain Valley Conference champions, will open conference basketball play tonight at Valley at 7:30.
The Cougars, who are 10-7 and ranked No. 15 in Southern California by the JC Athletic Bureau, are coming off a 118-73 romp over Victor Valley.
Valley (9-11) routed the Biola JVs last week, 57-36, in its last non-conference game. Although they finished fourth in the MVC last season, the Monarchs were the post-season tournament winners.
In a Metropolitan Conference game, Santa Monica will play at Pierce tonight at 7:30. Pierce (0-3, 4-15 overall) is still looking for its first conference win in two years. The Brahmas lost, 75-63, Wednesday at Bakersfield, despite 20 points from Cedric Purry and 18 from Kent Young.
