Los Angeles Police were searching Monday for an unidentified man with a large, bushy mustache who witnesses said shot a North Hollywood man to death Sunday night during an argument in a North Hollywood bar.
Aurelio Rodriguez, 46, was found dead by officers at about 10:10 p.m. on the sidewalk outside Olivia’s De Portivo Bar, 7528 Lankershim Blvd., said Detective Howard Landgren.
Landgren said that, according to witnesses, Rodriguez fired or tried to fire one round at the unidentified man during a quarrel. The other man then shot Rodriguez several times in the chest and fled, Landgren said.
The man was described by Landgren as Latino, about 40 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. Witnesses said he was nicknamed El Bigoton, an apparent reference to his large mustache.
Landgren said the shooting may be determined to be self-defense.
