600-Pound Man Dies

KASSEL, West Germany — An ailing 600-pound West German man who had to be hoisted into an ambulance with a crane has died, a Kassel hospital spokesman said Monday.
The 46-year-old man became ill Dec. 30 at his home in suburban Soehrewald. Ambulance drivers sought assistance from local firefighters to lift him by crane into the ambulance. He died early Saturday. At the wish of the family, doctors declined to reveal the nature of the illness.
