Rites Today for Sara Morris, 103, of Costa Mesa

Funeral services will be conducted today for Sara Ellen Morris, a 103-year-old Costa Mesa resident who died Sunday at her home of heart failure.

Mrs. Morris and her husband, Arthur, moved to Costa Mesa from Pasadena in 1926, when the small community was called Harper. They built a house on Maple Avenue, where she lived until she was 97. Her husband has since died.

Mrs. Morris was born Sept. 18, 1882, in Emporia, Kan. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Hoyle of Costa Mesa, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Her son, Clarence, died in 1983.

Graveside rites will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today at Friends’ Cemetery in Altadena.
