AUDIOCASSETTES
Compiled by Terry Atkinson
“Rebecca.†Warner. Jane Alexander gives a spirited and intelligent (if too actressy) reading of Daphne du Maurier’s haunting tale of the curious goings-on at the Manderley estate. And with the help of a likewise haunting score, of which we could have used much more, the anguish of the second Mrs. De Winter slowly evolves. (Rebecca was a dickens, wasn’t she?) While the abridged production is nicely diverting, it could have benefited greatly by an English casting.
