Planes to Be Grounded Indefinitely, Airline Says

WICHITA, Kan. — Air Midwest has announced that its five Saab-Fairchild 340 aircraft, grounded earlier this month by the FAA because of engine problems, will be out of service indefinitely.
“Although it was originally thought that this problem would be short-lived, it now appears that a solution will take a longer,” said Brian A. Schoenthaler, a spokesman for the Wichita-based regional carrier.
