Eddie LeBaron Fired by Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons announced Monday that they have fired Eddie LeBaron, the team’s executive vice president, but said no decision has yet been reached on the future of Coach Dan Henning.

Rankin Smith Sr., who owns the team, said a decision on Henning would be made later in the week. He also said that Tom Braatz, the Falcons’ general manager, has been asked to remain with the organization, although his responsibilities will be redefined.

Henning has completed a three-year contract with the Falcons and has a 15-33 record.

LeBaron came to Atlanta as general manager in 1977 after leaving law practice in Denver. The former Washington Redskin quarterback was promoted to executive vice president in 1981.

Meanwhile, The Buffalo Bills, after completing their second straight 2-14 season, fired general manager Terry Bledsoe.
