Local News in Brief : Waiter Dies After Fight at Sun Valley Eatery
An argument over money that escalated into a fistfight left a 21-year-old waiter dead in the parking lot of a Sun Valley restaurant early Monday, Los Angeles police said.
The victim, Javier Alonso Luevano, 21, a waiter at Don Ricardo’s Restaurant, 8022 Vineland Ave., died at the scene at 2:40 a.m, shortly after the fight, Lt. Ron La Rue said.
Police were called by restaurant employees.
Mario Arenas, 29, a busboy at the restaurant, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of murder. He was being held without bail Monday in North Hollywood Jail.
The county coroner’s office has not determined the cause of death, La Rue said.
